Did you know that 10% of the children in Oakland County, Michigan, are food insecure and at risk of going hungry? These kids rely on their school’s free and reduced-price meal program to provide the nourishment they need to learn and grow. But what happens when school closes its doors on Friday?

Who will feed the kids this weekend? We will!

The Blessings in a Backpack program in the Royal Oak community provides food on the weekends for school-aged children who might otherwise go hungry in the following schools:

Addams Elementary
Churchill Community Education Center
Keller Elementary
Northwood Elementary
Oak Ridge Elementary
Oakland Elementary
Royal Oak High School
Royal Oak Middle School
Upton Elementary
AECC

To ensure the kids in our community do not go hungry over the weekend, we fill kids’ backpacks with kid-friendly, satisfying, and nutritious food on Fridays. And with your support, we are closing the weekend hunger gap for 162 food-insecure kids in Oakland County.
